PR Card

To renew your Permanent Resident (PR) Card in Canada, you need to follow a process outlined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Here’s a clear guide based on the latest available information:

Eligibility

You can apply to renew your PR Card if:

  • You are a permanent resident of Canada.
  • Your current PR Card has expired or will expire within the next 9 months (270 days).
  • You have been physically present in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in the last 5 years, or you meet specific exemptions (e.g., accompanying a Canadian citizen spouse or working abroad for a Canadian entity).
  • Your card has been lost, stolen, or damaged (in which case you’re technically replacing it, but the process is similar).

Note: If your card is still valid for more than 9 months, you should not apply unless your legal name or gender has changed.
